Sonia Shaljean, founder and Managing Director of Lads Need Dads, joins MBC Board of Trustees

The Men and Boys Coalition are delighted to announce that Sonia Shaljean has joined the Coalition’s Board of Trustees.

Sonia is the founder and Managing Director of Lads Need Dads, a ground-breaking and award-winning community interest company that supports boys and young men who are missing a father figure in their lives, through male mentoring, group-led activities and leadership programmes.

Sonia has worked within the statutory and voluntary sector in the field of criminal justice, drugs and alcohol, domestic abuse, anger management, homelessness and complex families for over 20 years.

During this time she identified that the majority of male clients she worked with over her career seemed to share a common factor of an absent father and wanted to do something about this so set about devising Lads Need Dads.

Dan Bell, Chief Executive of the Men and Boys Coalition, said: “We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to welcome Sonia to our Board. Sonia combines a huge depth of experience with a profound compassion for the wellbeing of the men and boys she works with. She brings invaluable insights and expertise to the team, Sonia’s addition to the Board marks a significant step forward for the Men and Boys Coalition as an organisation.”

Sonia said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to join the board of Trustees for the Men and Boys Coalition. I feel both excited and privileged to be joining a coalition of like-minded professionals who not only seek the best for the future of men and boys but aim to influence policy and promote positive change.”
