North East Young Dads & Lads

Founded in 2017, the North East Young Dads and Lads Project (NEYDL) is a nationally recognised and award-winning parenting support charity that seeks to improve the lives and prospects of young fathers and expectant dads (aged under 26), leading to improved outcomes for children, families, and communities in the North East region of England.

Adopting a voluntary working relationship whilst maintaining the position of ‘critical friend’, we work to address the misperception that young fathers from disadvantaged backgrounds are a problem that needs fixing and incapable of developing and demonstrating excellent parenting and relationship skills, leading to exceptional independent caregiving.
