In 2018, John joined Anglia Ruskin University as a Senior Lecturer Practitioner in Education. He is the course leader of the BA Primary Education Studies degree. John has a variety of research interests, but he is currently completing his doctorate to understand the reasons why men join a Primary Education Studies degree and how more men can be encouraged to complete such degree programmes.
Before becoming an academic, John was a primary teacher for seventeen years with most of his experience as an early years teacher working with children aged four and five. He was also an assistant headteacher of an infant school.
