Sonia Shaljean

Sonia is the founder and Managing Director of Lads Need Dads, a ground-breaking and award-winning community interest company that supports boys and young men who are missing a father figure in their lives, through male mentoring, group-led activities and leadership programmes.

Sonia has worked within the statutory and voluntary sector in the field of criminal justice, drugs and alcohol, domestic abuse, anger management, homelessness and complex families for over 20 years.

During this time she identified that the majority of male clients she worked with over her career seemed to share a common factor of an absent father and wanted to do something about this so set about devising Lads Need Dads. Sonia is a Trustee of the Men and Boys Coalition.

“I’m delighted to have been invited to join the board of Trustees for the Men and Boys Coalition. I feel both excited and privileged to be joining a coalition of like-minded professionals who not only seek the best for the future of men and boys but aim to influence policy and promote positive change.”
