David Wright

David Wright is a co-owner, along with his wife and son, of Paint Pots Nurseries, a family childcare group based in Southampton comprising 10 settings caring for nearly 1,000 children each week.

David is an international speaker, broadcaster and commentator on Early Years education and the co-author of Men in Early Years Settings: Building a mixed gender workforce.

David is an advocate for men in early years in which capacity he has advised the Department for Education, chairing a task and finish group which has provided proposals to the government on how to redress the gender imbalance in the workforce. He is the national representative for England to the World Forum on Early Childhood Education.

He is the founder of both Southampton Area Men in Early Years and of Families First Southampton, a small local charity that works with families in need, in particular fathers and kinship carers who are looking for help with contact, access, care, finances, housing, benefits etc to support children.

David is also the chair of trustees for New Life Home Trust UK CIO, a charity supporting the work of baby rescue centres in Kenya. Along with his wife, David also works for Safe Families for Children providing emergency respite care for children from families in crisis and for Southampton Family Trust, delivering relationship training. David works with Connected Baby providing education and awareness raising of trauma informed care.
