Dr Craig Owen

Dr Craig Owen is a lecturer in Psychology at St. Mary’s University, Twickenham.  His PhD research focused on the performance of masculine identities in capoeira and Latin and ballroom dance classes. Currently, he is collaborating on new research projects that explore the negotiation of gender identities in a range of social contexts including, tackling lad culture on university campuses, how men’s magazines talk about penises, and how teenage girl’s magazines talk about breasts.

Craig has recently published articles about masculinity, gender inclusivity, capoeira and health in the International Review for the Sociology of Sport and in the Journal of Health Psychology.
